Free Water !

Look around yourself and tell me one thing other than air that is constantly present and wanted in order to survive, feel comfortable. Its water and many people don't seem to be appreciating it anymore, not nearly as they do to other materialistic conveniences. Certainly more that 70% of the Earth is covered with water but only a scant 2% of that is fresh water. My perception of the world is that people reading blogs have no problems letting the tap run for a shave or while washing dishes and even I consider that as petite lethargy but I can't put a blind eye to the millions of humans dying daily as a result of lack of water or a water related disease. I type this to give voice for my friends who don't have a page on social networks, who can't blog like we do about our life and the problems we consider to be problems. I don’t demand charity but I want to create a small sense of duty of being human and coexisting.
We don't see or even empathize with the 345 million people facing water scarcity everyday let alone the 3.4 million annual deaths due to drinking unsafe and contaminated water. We all unknowingly love water while others crave for it. There are places where having water separates the rich from the poor. In ancient times rain was considered a gift from the Gods and as the water droplets fell through sky people joyed at the fruitful occasion. It  was a natural source of irrigation, it cooled those scorching days and brought along it a cold and soothing breeze and no one minds the sight of kids playing in the rain because in materialistic terms it’s just people being happy with nothing.  Since the times humans evolved to intelligence they realized the value of water inferred that to make a city first they need to set up a water distribution system, that people need drinking water. They harvested rain, a lot ! They engineered ways to effectively collect the water and save it for later use. As compared to now, imagine if each and every house, building, shack, petrol pump have and effective rain harvesting system. I invoke for  a world in which we just save some by using our own and us saving a little when taken on a larger scale enables our government to provide to the unlucky. Only when you experience the need for water or see a fellow human crave, starve due to lack of water maybe then you will experience an epiphany. Sadly just maybe.
I love the feeling of drinking water, it makes me feel safe, something less to worry about. I wish I could share that feeling with others just lying in their homes thinking if they can have a sip, a proper bathroom routine, a proper meal. I just take care of my small responsibility to conserve thinking that if my tap runs then somewhere someone's tap wont. I want the community to re-realize the value of water. Just stop the tap when you are done, flush wisely ( felt funny writing that ), if possible use a bucket instead of shower. Do you even see that taking your car through car wash is a monumental waste of water and shows how lazy we have become. I urge for a community where health care and drinkable water is free and available in even the smallest possible ways. I'm disheartened to see that with the current economical status of some countries they still choose to line up vending machines of food and beverages but not those of free water and band aids. With this the community should be smart and not misuse, it is a must to be civil and keep the not so well of in mind.
There is 326,000,000,000,000,000,000 gallons (326 million trillion gallons) of water on Earth, a healthy human needs a minimum of 8 glasses ( 2 liters or half a gallon ) of water per day and still so many die due to... well simply no water. Its not only us who needs water, we have so many pets in our community we and it is our responsibility to feed them, they aren't greedy like humans, they know how to coexist and a simple cup of water outside your house can put a smile to a dog's face. Think about it, think of your nation, think of the world. I am not encouraging any major donation, because there isn't the need if only people understand small steps are to be taken first and so even though we have 24 hour running water we should help the world by not misusing. We should encourage rainwater harvesting and if you tell me that rainwater is not drinkable due to atmospheric pollution making it minutely acidic, I agree. But then use it to clean your car, use it water some plants, connect the piping through to your bathroom or the best give it to the poor, it is still distilled water. Indeed, charity begins at home.
